Wooster vs. Orrville....Saturday Night Fever?

I had this thought a few months ago. In my head, I said it would be cool if the 100th Wooster-Orrville football game was played on a Saturday. It would give fans more time to tailgate (or stand in the ticket line) and you wouldn't have to rush right from work to the game...especially a game of this significance.

I was all set to get up on my virtual soapbox and make the case for a Saturday night game.....then I bothered to check the schedule.

Yep....it's on a Saturday.  So much for my great idea....and now that I think about it....maybe it's a good idea with one big issue.

Time to discuss.

Football: Orrville vs. Private School Opponents

I'm "borrowing" this concept from the very nice IrontonFootball.com blog site (Here's their main site).

The following post will detail the private school opponents that Orrville has played over the years.

I'll detail it by year, and then sum it up at the end.

Blog Bits - Summertime Edition

Plenty to cover, so let's get at it.....a Big33 recap, a scholar athlete, the upcoming football season, the Wayne Co. Hall of Fame induction, a Rider in the pros, and a "College Rider" reminder.

Away we go.....

Orrville Football - Dream Schedule

Hi....remember me?

We're a mere 9 weeks from the opening game of the 2010 high school football season.  Plain and simple...it's time to talk football.

An easy topic today.  Make your dream Red Rider football schedule. Sounds easy right? Sort of.

Here's the 10 teams I'd have on the schedule if we were an independent. I'd love to add teams like Massillon, McKinley and the like, but let's be realistic, most years we'd lose games against D-1 schools. Sure, we'd love a shot, but 8 out of 10 years it simply wouldn't be close.

I'd want my schedule to be against tradition rich teams in NE Ohio with strong followings, and teams that, most years, will bring a lot of computer points to the table.

Here's how I'd do it.

2009-10: That's a wrap.

OK....Spring sports are in the record books, and another school year is finished. Time flies right?

I wasn't very attentive to the spring sports season until a few weeks ago when track tournaments started. To be honest, there wasn't a lot to talk about. Tough seasons for baseball, softball and tennis, and to me, track never gets terribly interesting until tournament time.

My writing for The Daily Record (oh, you hadn't heard?) took up most of my ever decreasing attention span, so let's catch up on things. This past athletic season as a whole had it's ups and downs. Some great moments though, for sure.
