Orrville seniors Chase Hoobler and Sam Miller have been selected as Scholar Athletes by the Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
They will attend a banquet in Westlake on April 26th along with their families and Coach Doug Davault.
Also being honored at the banquet will be 2-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, current Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel and newly named head coach of Notre Dame, Brian Kelly.
Last year's banquet saw roughly 30 student-athletes honored with the Scholar-Athlete award (including Waynedale's Sean Rutt), so it's certainly a great accomplishment.
All recipients are all-conference or all-league selections, maintain a 3.0 grade point average and are active in the school community. Both Miller & Hoobler were integral parts of the Red Rider football team that finished as regional runner-ups, and have helped the Red Rider basketball team to a berth in the regional finals.
Orrville alum Tommy Brenner was honored at last year's banquet with a $2000 post-graduate scholarship as a member of the Ashland Eagle football team.
Congrats Sam & Chase on another great accomplishment. Don't forget to take your autograph pen to the banquet.
