Great news for another OHS senior. Two-time All-Ohioan Sam Miller (WR/S) has made a verbal commitment to play football at Kent State University.
Congrats to Sam and his family. Sam will get a chance to play D1 college football and do it close to home where friends and family can more easily attend.
We saw Sam up close for the past several years, and his performance in the Genoa playoff game (8 rec. 175 yds & 3 TD's) will be one that Rider fans remember for a very long time. To me, it was one of the best individual performance in Red Rider playoff history, and that's saying a lot. He certainly has the talent and speed to succeed at the next level, and I think with sound coaching, he will.
Sam's career at Orrvlle saw him amass 2000+ all-purpose yards and play a solid safety position, picking off 7 passes over the past 2 seasons. He was also a dangerous punt returner. Oh, and a 4 year letter winner, a very rare accomplishment for a skill position player.
He will be a huge loss for the Riders on the gridiron next year. It doesn't seem right that he's already played his last game in a Red Rider uniform.

I guess all that's left is to win a state title in the hurdles, and maybe even help the Rider basketball team down the tournament trail.
Coach Martin & his staff are getting a very athletic player with speed, smarts and a very physical demeanor.
Congrats Sam!!
