Red Rider Playoffs: 1989

Now we're getting into the years that I recall more clearly. Let's look at the '89 season and the playoffs. The Berlin Wall fell, Batman was the hit movie and computers cost a small fortune.  (20 mhz, lol!)

It was also the first year as an independent for the Red Rider football team.

I've been sitting on this since October, but with this article appearing in today's Daily Record, now is as good a time as ever.

This is a topic that always elicits strong reactions and opinions on either side, and one that doesn't seem to have the "silver bullet" solution.

Site Statistics over the past 12 months

It's been a year to the day since I began tracking visits to this blog.  Thought this would be an appropriate time to share some data with my readers.  You know me, I'm a numbers guy, so this is right up my alley, but I wanted you all to know what a special year this has been in terms of site growth.

I've said it many times that I'm so thankful for everyone who has visited the site and taken the time to say so either through email, a comment on the site, or in person.  This is not done to brag....just wanted to share.

Sam Miller verbals to Kent St.

Great news for another OHS senior. Two-time All-Ohioan Sam Miller (WR/S) has made a verbal commitment to play football at Kent State University.

Websites all over the Hoosier state (and few here in good ol' Ohio) are on the Chase Hoobler bandwagon...and why not....the Hoosiers are getting a solid player with a lot of talent and potential.

There's renewed interest in the Orrville basketball program, and for good reason, and I'm not the only blogger who thinks it. We'll talk about that, the new regime, the schedule and the roster...and one more interesting tidbit.

It's down to 12 schools vying for 6 titles.  Six of the twelve are private schools, but that's the norm anymore (and an entirely different discussion).

Congrats to Chase Hoobler & Sam Miller (First Team) and Dennis Raber & Tre Simpson (Special Mention) on being named an AP All-Ohio Selection for Division 4.
